MY TIME IN LOS ANGELES | M A K E U P x T H E C I T Y

Friends, brands, incredible people and pretty good food – they say it doesn’t matter how big the city is, or the world, if you don’t want to see someone the odds are you will somehow. I always have this luck, it doesn’t matter if where I am or who I am with I will run into someone that I don’t want to see, even with an ocean between us but that’s not the point of this post, the city of angels, I can tell you right now there is a massive difference between work and play when you go to LA – a lot to see and a lot of places to play. Oppertunities around almost every corner if you know where to look and as long as you look the best.

I found that you can do just about anything if you’re creative enough, though you have to know where to draw the line, just like with anything; I was really surprised to find the intersection of Hollywood and Highland is like the Times Square of Los Angeles or Young and Dundas of Toronto. There’s very little here that’s exciting or LA-specific.It’s pretty much just a big, shiny, tourist trap if you come to LA for a work specific trip with a little time, you can absolutely do better in finding a place to unwind and feel the real LA-vibe. Ever since I was little, I would love taking the bus maybe to much actually even as I grew up I would put in my headphones and listen to music and just learn the area or the way around my new city or part of the city, I do not suggest LA city transit..it was…a good place to get the flu, one word ➡️ Uber.
instant-touch-up-essentials-feature-headerIf you’re like me you’ll have a touch up powder in your jacket pocket or have a cross body bag or nice backpack, assuming you’re not a woman and carrying a purse with you, there are a couple products that I’d recommend to keep your skin looking matte and oil free, if you’re not one for the touch up in public you can go the blotting paper route which I absouloutly love, and can really say they are not a gimmick, trust me I’ve done the leg work – Clean & Clear oil absorbing sheets will do the trick, but, you can also go the Fenty route with Invisimatte Blotting Paper which can work as rolling papers also in Marijuana legal LA and now Canada but that’s getting off topic! You can also just use your trusty MAC studio skin for that oil-free look that latest and a dose of pigment correction if you’re flushed ➡️ lastly if yo u’re carrying a cross body bag or purse you can throw in Smashbox Halo Hydrating powder for a fresh hydrated glow, pair with Smashbox Sheer powder brush.

SIDE NOTE ➡️ There is a lot of smog within LA and A LOT of air pollution so maybe pack a travel size Tatcha Luminous skin mist for only $20.00 or any brand really, just as long as it’s got ingredients to protect and keep the skin comfortable, and safe.

Please do check back to this post because it will be updated!

MY MAKEUP KIT HACKS | FACE POWDERS AND CONTOUR | MAKEUPANDTHECITY

Hi boys and girls – so I am just going to address a couple things right now, I had a couple items from Tarte that I was going to talk about truthfully I really, really can’t stand that company. Yes I am on a PR list, but it will be my choice to pull out because I just can’t handle the amount of pointless and same items they send out, Morphe x James Charles, Tarte REMIX. Morphe Fluidity, Tarte Shape Tape powders and the list just goes on and on. I find Tarte to be very rude, and there is a couple of them I know personally, like Lauren and Hailey – They will be rude to you and make you feel bad for no reason at all, Tarte is not be all end all in fact Tarte products are conceived and produced so fast that they are just garbage. They print logos they think we want to see, yet the company is anything but ‘kind’ I don’t need eyes to see Tarte won’t last 2019 at the rate they are going. The price we pay just isn’t worth it, and if I have to sit, for almost an hour at a blank screen, trying to find nice words, I can’t do that, not for ‘free’ products and some apple watches from time to time. But this is not what this is about I’m going to show you a couple of new kit hacks to have a brand name items in your starter kit with multiple uses.

So there a lot of Contour Palettes out there, ABH, Morphe, heck any brand really but the one I’m going to talk about is from MAC and it’s just because of the idea tones for it to also be used as a face powder set from light, medium and dark. The blendability also is a major factor for what I choose MAC – the hard shell package is also ideal for travel. It’s for all sick types and a massive plus is it will not clog your pores.

The texture of these powders are nothing different from the standard MAC powder formula. While some shades are on the chalky side, all can be blended out on the skin and last all day and you will not notice anything.

The top row contains highlight powders meant to brighten or set certain areas on the face. These powders have more of a sheen or a matte finish but they also contain subtle shimmer. When buffed into the skin, it’s not a disco ball but it reflects the light in just a way that its flattering and beautiful. I think it’s not hard to see why I picked this one but if you do want all matte shades within you should go with the ABH palette but I am also adding in travel and pan side to get the best bang for your buck to my list.

MAC is also a MUA staple across the world, starting in a small kitchen in Toronto to the mega worldwide company, always doing it right. Any skin tone. Any Gender.

M·A·C x ROBERT LEE MORRIS | MAKEUPANDTHECITY

I did have a little falling out with M·A·C cosmetics if you’ve read my previous post, I have since brought up the issue that happen too me at M·A·C head office in Toronto and the situation has been taken care of – which makes me feel a little bit better! Since M·A·C did start in Toronto in 1984 and began in a friends kitchen, I like the idea of working with a company that is home grown and became a massive company by working hard and creating a good team!

The PR sent out for the M·A·C x ROBERT LEE MORRIS was so beauty and kind of made me fall in love with M·A·C cosmetics again, when I first started applying makeup it was ➡️ M·A·C pro long wear concealer and ➡️ M·A·C studio fix powder.

Timeless yet astonishingly contemporaryRobert Lee Morris crafts fine jewellery that eludes categorization, existing at the boundaries between fashion and sculpture. Now, Morris adapts his sensuously organic style for a limited-edition collection for M·A·C, featuring a lineup of well-loved products reimagined and resculpted with golden and matte black packaging. Makeup takes on new, ultra-luxurious forms in Morris’s hands – primordial, futuristic, fantastical.

This collection has Mattene Lipstick’s in six (6) shades which are super hydrating and extremely long lasting pigment, it also come with beautifully packaged Pressed Pro Long Wear Powder in three (3) shades, and new Powder Blush which is limited edition.

DID YOU KNOW ➡️ ROBERT LEE MORRIS is a famous jewelry designer who I had the pleasure of working with this past spring!

Robert also repackaged two of M·A·C most loved brushes (135 Large Flat Powder Brush / 168SES Large Angled Contour Brush) along with coming out with a brush roll with four (4) brushes included and a very unique handle and design (184SE Fan Brush / 222SE Tapered Blending Brush / 204SE Lash Brush / 229SE Mini Synthetic Brush) there is also a small pocket or purse mirror which I thought was a cute little touch – I absouloutly love the look and the feel of this collection, and the vision is very easily seen.

The compact has an antique gold finish and the inside features an extra lid flapped attached to an oval mirror. I do wish that the compact was made out of metal (everything is plastic) but it is still very eye-catching and collector-worthy. Promising a 12-hour wear, the Pro Longwear Powder is finely-milled and nicely pigmented. Although not super creamy and soft, the powder provides some pretty impressive coverage. The formulation is blurring and matte and even after a full day of wear, there is minimal creasing or caking – as I said I love this partnership between M·A·C x ROBERT LEE MORRIS it’s very beautiful and stunning and you can see exactly what they wanted from this collection!
