SMASHBOX COSMETICS | MXTC (MAKEUPxTHECITY)

It’s kind of crazy waking up in a completely different time zone and knowing it would be the time that I am typical awake and starting my day (5:00am) but it’s only (3:00am) and I find myself wide awake, I’m used to the city and being around noise, but it’s almost like this hotel is made for it, I can open my window and hear so much happening even now at this time, and as soon as I shut it I’m confronted with a unforgiving silence, I’ve always needed a fan or sleep or some type of noise and when I asked the hotel if they had white noise I wasn’t expecting birds, waterfalls, and all of that, I do love falling asleep to thunderstorms but this Sound  and Sleep Therapy at the Mr. C hotel in LA is a little, erratic from nice rain to stuck on the sea in a massive storm, like my life and going from one extreme to another – but I’m here with Smashbox Cosmetics and this is a long time coming to discuss upcoming projects and to talk about personal matter when we have time. I want to explain to you why I believe Smashbox is one of the best beauty companies and why they then to really, always get it right, keep reading.

Launched in 1996 by dapper LA brothers Dean and Davis Factor (who also happen to be great-grandsons of makeup legend Max), the Smashbox Cosmetics line focuses on long-lasting products designed to give a flawless look. Smashbox Cosmetics  to me growing up in a semi small town was one of the first higher end brands that I came into contact with when I was starting out in the world of beauty, I immediately fell in love with the name, the packaging and that has only improved going into 2019. I stopped really paying attention to the brand after working with Smashbox Cosmetics quite a lot, my entire kit was Smashbox Cosmetics, as my brushes were as well. Smashbox recognized my work and credits being sent back so would send me whatever I wanted pretty much, as new brands came out and I became somewhat bigger at what I was doing but still wanted to branch out at the point in my career when studios and other artists at this time were starting to contact me but it’s almost like I lost the passion and needed to step else where for a little.

imagesI’ve seen first hand how some companies just push out product after product and any brand press about a launch just fades away into the cluster of launchesSmashbox Cosmetics isn’t like that, for example they are in the process right now of repackaging everything or giving the brand a facelift  which is where I am kind  of coming into the LA meeting, to become far more more fitting for their always evolving planograms and end shelves within stores and their always evolving customers and fans worldwide. 

Smashbox is iconic for putting primer on the market and keeping up with demand knowing that we are not all the same which is absouloutly refreshing and you think would be a given in 2019 but it’s not ➡️ I decided to write this blog to stay in makeup and not get disconnected in the world of media outreach and public relations, and yeah if even set needs help I would absolutely put on a brush belt and kick butt, Smashbox Cosmetics was part of a wider business empire for the Factor brothers, Smashbox Studios, which includes a modelling agency, a photo studio and a clothing line. The cosmetics arm of the business was sold to Estee Lauder in the summer of 2010, but the brothers remain at the helm.
